TURN is a last resort, used only if all other methods failed. The situations where it won't be possible are most properly extremes: those who do not have (stable) Internet, or those that have very poor peering and cannot connect to our TURN servers. With this, it should be possible in nearly all situations for player A to play with player B, without any configuration in their network. This is meant to allow connecting those clients and servers that we cannot connect in any other way. There is a 2 second timeout on waiting for STUN, hence the delay.Īs final piece of #9017, this introduces TURN support in the OpenTTD client. This is because it is expecting STUN, but as we "disabled" that, it will fail. there is a 2 second delay till it switched to TURN. Start the game like: OTTD_COORDINATOR_CS=":4976" OTTD_STUN_CS="localhost".This will give a connection error, that is fully expected. We "disable" STUN by using a server that doesn't exist ("localhost").Host your server on a port that you do NOT forward (you do not want to have a Public server). All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.Note: this is currently only deployed on staging. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Oracle cloud has a great cost analysis and reporting feature on the right side after you login and breaks down everything by service, day and usage. I usually had it up 18hrs a day give a take too. For Feb 15 to Feb 28th I ran the 1cpu,3gb for only $3.88 total. I did find this great repo and tutorial but there might be an easier way: īut even if done manually the savings are huge. Oracle has a built in scaling feature but I haven't tested it yet. But once I do I will for sure include it in the guide. I've been doing a lot of test configs and playing the game too, so I haven't fully explored all the options yet on auto-scaling and day/night scheduling. I was also able to get rid of the network load balancer after a recent update improved their server tech immensely. Although I run a server for just a small group of friends really. Yeah the 3gb of ram has been working great for me so far. Thanks! Happy to hear its working for ya.
